imessages sending as text

I live in the North East US and have been having a problem with my iMessages for the last week.  For the last week almost all of my iMessages have been going through as text to other iPhone/iPad users.  Most of my day my iPhone 5 is on LTE while friends are either on wifi/3G or LTE too.  Everything worked perfectly find until about a week ago where messages would hang (blue status) then just go through as text.  I have my settings set to push the iMessage through as text if it is not available but rarely has it ever needed that until this past week.

I want to know if anyone else has experienced this problem too.
