unlock iPad 2

My son passed away and I want to unlock his iPad but he has a passcode on it. Is there any way to get around that without doing a total recovery?

Nope, just have to dfu and restore.

It's an iPad 2? Do you by any chance know what iOS version does it have?

I know and I love doing that stuff!! It is called a master-reset! Connect it to any iTunes computer. Click on the device on iTunes. Then click shift then a master - reset will come conform and all of it will be off. Mother only thing is nothing will be on there. Therefore again sorry for your loss.

I'm not sure there's anything you can do, to be honest, other than a full restore. Very sorry for your loss and I can understand why you wanted to look at his iPad.

Sorry for your loss. I think some versions of iOS have a passcode bypass bug (not sure if it only worked on iPhone). Do you know the version number? 

Otherwise, call Apple or go to an Apple store and explain to them what happened. They might be able to help.
