The Casing should be a Dark Aluminum Unibody with a tight fitting Display that doesn’t look over the bezel.
All around it has 45° bevel edges.
I created a smaller new Dock-Connector Form, because I think, that it’s time for a MagSafe like Implementation that needs less place. The Speakers on the iPhone have never been a Problem although I enlarged them a bit - bigger is (often) better.
After thinking (and reading) about it I have to say that I think that we won’t see something like Widgets, I think that we’ll see something like a “Function Strap” where you can add different Functions or Parts of Apps page wise - you can swipe between these function “Pages” like on App Pages but if you swipe from App Page to App Page the Function Strap stays still and vice versa.
For Example: You could create a Preference Page with WiFi-, Bluetooth-, 3G- and Roaming … Switches, a Page with upcoming Reminders, last unread Mails, etc. …
The Mockup is made from ground up in Photoshop CS6 Beta.
Hope you like my Ideas and if not: It’s okay anyway of course!
I really like your Idea, but above and under the Screen the Place is to big I think.
It looks like a little iPad, but that is no negative thing, I think.
It also looks a lot like the 1st iPhone generation, which is also a positive thing but I think that Apple will use a completely different Design, also completely different than my Mockup from above, cause the actual iPad design is already about 2 years old.
Maybe I'm going to create a another Mockup, if I'm going to find some time and inspiration.
But what I really expect from the new iPhone is the Resolution you've been using.
Absolutely hideous. Possibly the worst design imaginable. Oh, we're talking about the phone! Okay, minus the screen, I love the design. Reminds me VERY much of my iPhone, sans plastic bar. Which is great.
The screen is the ugliest thing I've ever seen.
And the second one is… sort of all right. The screen is still a major problem, but I respect how the design is simply evolutionary of the iPhone 4's.
Being the creator of these images, I'd like to share with you the description I posted on other forums such as MacRumors and The Verge.
Thanks to SheRa for sharing them on here.
Description:
Hi all,
Based on the recent information published by iLounge and the recently posted concept by a forum user at The Verge, I decided to create these images to further illustrate the size of an iPhone with a larger screen and aluminium back.
I am aware that for such a design to work there would need to be an area designated for the antennae but I decided to not add that this particular detail to the design. I might add alterations further on.
Hope you enjoy.
PS: I had originally prepared high resolution images but for some reason Photoshop is exporting them with a stretched aspect ratio. That's why I only have these low resolution screen caps to show you. If anyone knows a solution to the problem I would really appreciate it.
Bingo ECKSPECK! It's going to be along those lines IMO too. There is NO WAY they just make it taller. It changes the aspect ratios, which will result in fragmentation in apps. Fragmentation is an Android thing, not an Apple iPhone thing. If simply just making the screen taller happened, then Steve Jobs will be rolling over in his grave!
Also, you are right on the button and speaker area. That will be the first area they make room, by ridding of excess empty space below and above the screen.
